Samdech Hun Sen calls for reserving water for rice farming

Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Cambodia Royal Government has made appeal to authorities at all levels and farmers to pay attention to reserving water for rice farming in reparation to cope with drought that may take place by late monsoon season.

The Prime Minister made this remark and expressed his satisfaction over the outcome of rice farming this rainy season at a ground breaking ceremony held on October 17, 2005 at Phnom Pros in Kampong Cham province.
Although farmers at a number of provinces haven't completed the season's rice farming the ministry of agriculture, wild life and fishery has estimated that the rice farming this year is by now completed by 90 per cent and that the agricultural products will grow by 3.3 per cent.
Samdech Hun Sen told authorities, commune councils, armed forces and common people to get ready in coping with any natural calamities in late rainy season this year.
" If we don't reserve water for rice farming we will face difficulty when hit by drought " , he said. (ends)
