PM: Nation Routes 6A and 7 Needs Immediate Repair

The Ministry of Transport and Public Work is urged to take action in repairing two lines of national roads linking the capital city of Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham province. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen suggested on October 17, 2005 in Kampong Cham province that the ministry cooperate with public work departments of Phnom Penh, Kandal and Kampong Cham to repair roads 6A and 7 in urgent manner.

The damaged portions of the road starts from Cambodia-Japan Friendship bridge on route 6A connecting with a portion of route 7 which stretches as far as provincial town of Kampong Cham.
The Prime Minister blamed the delay on the fact the Cambodian government would expect and wait for Japan to help repair the roads.
"This is our mistake. Please convey my apology to all travelers on routes 6A and 7", he said by adding that the failure in maintenance work and the overload trucks are parts of the damage.
Ordering the deployment of mechanical equipment in large quantity at the repairing sites, Samdech Hun Sen warned that the quality must be guaranteed.
