Kandal Province Voices Support to the Joint Declaration Between Cambodia and Vietnam

Along with many supporting letters from other institutions such as provincial and municipal authorities and people, Kandal Province has came up with a petition in support of the October 10, 2005 joint declaration between Cambodia-Vietnam.

“We, civil servants, armed forces and citizens in Kandal Province, would like to express our welcome and strongly support to the 16-point declaration between Cambodia and Vietnam, especially point number 7 which clearly valued the signing of the additional convention attached to the 1985 Treaty on Border Demarcation between the two countries”, the petition read.
The petition further said that the supplemental document was regarded as an important, historic event conducive to the legal foundation for the two countries to establish a clear, peaceful, and friendship frontier.
“ The move shows the courageous patriotism of Samdech Hun Sen, the prime minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia in his fulfilling his mission to protect and develop our nation, in other words, it shows clearly the meaningful and ideal actions of protecting territorial integrity , giving peace and happiness to the Cambodian people”, the petition continued.
The petition warned to oppose all actions that are aimed at destabilizing political situation and hindering the country’s development and construction. (ends)
