Cambodia’s garment and textile exports increased by 17 percent during the first nine months of this year compared to the same period last year, according to Chinese News Agency Xinhua.
From January to September this year, Cambodia has exported the garments and textiles worth of 2.27 billion U.S. dollars, 17 percent increase from 1.94 billion U.S. dollars from January to September last year, according to the statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce on Monday.
Countries breakdown figures recorded that the exports to the United States of America rose by 13.3 percent to 1.32 billion U.S. dollars from 1.16 billion U.S. dollars the same period of last year.
To the European countries increased by 15.8 percent to 563.78 million U.S. dollars from 486.57 million U.S. dollars.
And to other foreign markets rose by 29 percent to 353.38 million U.S. from 273.50 million U.S. dollars.
According to the data provided by Ministry of Commerce, there are currently more than 320,000 garment workers, among them more than 290,000 are women all are working in nearly 300 factories across the country.--AKP
