Prime Minister Calls for More Non-refunded Aid from China

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen said he has asked the government of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to release more non-refunded aid to Cambodia for the improvement and development of road communication infrastructure in the Kingdom.

On his arrival here Wednesday from participating in the 2nd ASEAN-China Expo, Samdech Hun Sen told reporters that he met with PRC vice-president about aid needed for building roads and bridges.
"It is necessary for me to ask China to increase non-refunded aid, interest-free loan and concession loan ", said Samdech Hun Sen, who have been to China for 5 times in two years.
The Prime Minister asked China to fund two irrigation networks in Battambang and Kampong Cham provinces, with an estimated cost of nearly US$30 millions, provide a 3000-meter steel component fabricated for building bridge estimated at US$20 millions and asked for a US$48 million loan to fund the repairing of the 124 kilometer National Road 78 linking the provincial town of Ratanakiri with that of Stung Treng province.
He also said a 70-kilometer portion of the Road 78 from Cambodia-Viet nam border to the provincial town of Ratanakiry would be repaired under the budget provided by Viet Nam.(ends)
